In May of 1984 we graduated from square dance lessons with Mark Clark and the Do-Si-Do’s in Olympia. That fall we took plus from Mark and round dance lessons from Denis Crapo.
We found that we preferred Round Dance so much that the next year, both of us we started teaching and cueing with Denis’s guidance.
We contracted with our first club, the Salty Sashayers of Shelton, in the fall of ’87. During the next 9 years we cued with the Harbor Haylofters and the Do-Si-Do’s, and sponsored the Twilight Twirlers teen club.
We had two children who also danced with us.
With two kids in high school, we had to make some choices, and in the spring of 1996 we cancelled our contracts and left the dance community.
I also was starting my own business, in which I did a lot of traveling.
In 2007, we decided that we had waited long enough, and visited the Roundabouts in Olympia. We realized that we missed dancing, cueing, and teaching very much and decided that we wanted this activity back in our lives.
We are very grateful to the Wagon Wheels for giving us a “First Club” the second time around.
We are members of Roundalab and the
International Choreographed Ballroom Dance Association (ICBDA)
